April Challenge – Day One….”of the rest of my life” Ha ha…see what I did there? Love this song by Matthew West!
So this is my birthday month….yay! I’ve never done the month-long celebration thing, it makes me feel narcissistic. Truthfully, I don’t normally make much of a big deal about my birthday…but I do want to try something different this year. I really am determined to get into blogging more frequently, so I thought why not challenge myself to 30 days of blog posts. So for my birthday present to me, I’m challenging myself to be obedient to God, and post one post daily that revolves around my love for Christ and how living Christ-like actually goes for me….and might I add, it’s not always rainbows and unicorns.
Inspiration hits me at the craziest times….and I’m pretty sure I should carry around a notebook to jot down ideas when they happen. It’s so frustrating to have a great idea and then poof, it’s gone when I open my computer. So instead of the brilliant idea I had this morning, I’ll have to pick something else……
Obedience: Let’s face it, being obedient is not always easy. Sometimes I lose touch of who I am and who I want to be. I get caught up with my to-do list daily, and often forget to do the most important thing….recharge myself. Staying in communication with God is extremely important. At times, life has me running ten different directions and not one of them is to Him. My life feels like a hoarder’s basement {seriously!}, all cluttered and in a state of chaos. It’s time to get back to the basics…..taking care of my mind, body and soul. Although I yearn for this “uncluttered” life, I know that it’s just not a reality, so I must make time to recharge. Keeping the lines of communication open and interacting with God through prayer or even just talking to him (cause let’s face it….I need someone to talk to on the commute to work!) about daily activity can put even the most harried mind at ease. And even though this won’t take all the crazy out of my day, knowing that I have God on my side sure does take some of the pressure off.
Rejoice always, pray continually. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-17
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Make today a great day!
