Today I had plans….I had a to-do list that would rival even the best to-do list! I mean, with the busy week ahead, I needed to get all my proverbial ducks in a row, right? But then, my sweet hubby asked if I wanted to tag along with him. Well how could I turn that offer down? I crumbled up that list and took off out the door. You see, I knew he would be going down in the pasture to clear brush and I would have the opportunity just to sit and enjoy being outdoors, without any distractions. That meant time with the birds and the bugs, listening to the breeze through the trees, and time to talk with God. It’s nice just to sit and look at all the magnificent creations that He has made.
One thing I noticed was how, when left to its own devices, nature will reclaim itself. The brush that needed to be cleared was thorny bushes and vines that were a nuisance, seeing as the land is supposed to be for cattle grazing. It made me start thinking about how our minds and hearts are like that pasture land. If we just let our minds go, thinking about anything and everything, they tend to get all enveloped in the wrong type of thoughts. Thoughts of doubt, frustration, fear, and even hate can manifest from not taking care of our minds. It’s so important to feed our minds and souls daily with the word of God, to keep our minds clear of all that debris. A daily devotional, reading a book of the Bible, listening to a podcast of your favorite Christian speaker, or even just having a chat with a friend about your faith…..but most of all prayer. Keeping that line of communication open with God is, by far, the best way to keep that yuck at bay.
Have you talked to God today? I mean really talked to God? Give it a whirl, and clean out some of that yuck. I guarantee you’ll feel better!
**Day Two was published on Day Three….since I was unplugged with the hubby!
